Brooklyn Nets preseason opener revealed

With the NBA 2K25 Summer League now complete, the Brooklyn Nets are now focused on the 2024-25 season. In an announcement by the Los Angeles Clippers, it was officially revealed that Brooklyn will travel to San Diego to face the Clippers in their preseason opener on October 8.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, the Nets’ training camp will begin in conjunction with their first preseason game, which will also be held in San Diego. This is Brooklyn’s first preseason stop in San Diego since 2021 with the failed Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden.

Though nearly as meaningless as the Summer League games outside of roster battles and player development showcases, Brooklyn faced Los Angeles just two weeks ago in Las Vegas, with the Clippers coming away with an 87-78 win over the Nets. Now the Nets will have a chance to avenge this year’s exhibition with another one this fall.

There are many questions that will be answered in Brooklyn, which is currently undergoing a complete rebuild. Will Jalen Wilson prove to have taken the next step in his development, or will he simply become another summer league hero? How will new coach Jordi Fernandez’s philosophy translate into game action? Which of their three point guards will start?

The preseason never matters much, but the Nets are in a unique position to take advantage of the exhibition games. Los Angeles doesn’t have much to gain, but a solid performance before the “real” games start to count will give the team a better idea of where they’re really headed.
