UAE to introduce 3 new rules to boost cybersecurity by end of 2024

He added that the UAE has the potential and resources to become a global data hub, which in turn will enable it to enact laws and policies that regulate this strategic sector, as well as build regional and international partnerships with the public and private sectors.

Dr Al Kuwaiti said the UAE serves as an inspiring role model for many countries around the world looking to develop their cybersecurity systems, especially in the data sector, given the rapid development of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.

The UAE Cyber ​​Security Council Chairman explained that the digital transformation in the UAE is encompassing all sectors such as healthcare, energy, education, aviation and other strategic sectors, which creates a growing need for an advanced cybersecurity system to protect cyberspace from potential attacks, especially in view of the growing AI solutions used by various entities to conduct general research to identify digital vulnerabilities in critical infrastructure of key sectors.

He explained that this highlights the importance of protecting these institutions from threats and breaches that could lead to data leakage, identity theft, intellectual property infringement and compromise of core infrastructure and the security of digital records.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti stressed that the UAE is facing malicious cyberattacks targeting strategic sectors, especially the financial sector, with the aim of compromising national security or obtaining financial information to blackmail individuals or countries for illicit gains. He reaffirmed that the UAE’s cybersecurity system continues to deflect and disrupt such attacks, identify hackers and deal with them in line with the highest international standards.
