Stream the Olympics with new interactive features on Peacock

The Paris 2024 Olympics live stream has been available on Peacock since July 26, and the streaming service has added a new lineup of features just ahead of this year’s Games. Viewers can watch athletes compete for medals in more than 320 live events, including breakdancing, boxing and swimming. In March, the streaming service said it would be rolling out special features to its app so fans could stay up-to-date with the Olympics, and now three interactive features will launch on Saturday, just ahead of some of the biggest events.

All of the coverage is available in the Peacock Olympic Hub, which includes “curated channels of live and upcoming events, dedicated in-depth channels for nearly 40 sports, medal standings and an interactive schedule.” Viewers can navigate to the hub, which includes the All Sports channel, the ability to search by athlete and these new features highlighted below.

All of the extra benefits will be available to every Peacock subscriber, regardless of whether you have the ad-supported Premium plan or the ad-free Premium Plus plan. And while the streaming service has introduced a price hike this month, we remind you that you may be eligible for a free subscription if you have Xfinity or Instacart Plus internet service.

AI-powered Olympic summaries

Combining AI technology with the voice of Emmy-winning sportscaster Al Michaels, Peacock offers “Your Daily Olympic Recap” to provide fans with customized recaps. The feature works like a playlist that displays clips of the previous day’s highlights. The AI version of Michaels’ voice will display highlights based on the sports you’re interested in.

The app asks you to enter your name and choose the top three sports categories you want to follow, including “Extreme,” “Team Sports,” or “Artistic.” Users will then be asked to choose the types of highlights they want to recap, with options like viral moments or top competitions. The feature is intended for fans who want to keep up with the Olympics on the go, but it’s available on the Peacock TV app, web browsers, and some tablets and phones.

Multiview function

Peacock Discovery Multiview lets you watch up to four events at once on one screen. The feature will highlight the most important events at any given time, but will let you move between games of your choosing. While multiview is a feature available on streaming platforms like YouTube TV, what’s unique about this version is that it’s designed around the Olympics, providing “real-time on-screen descriptions” of key event details. Fans can learn what could lead to eliminations and Olympians’ status as rookies, veterans, or medalists.

If you prefer to stream multiple matches at once for a single sport, that’s an option with the platform’s traditional multiview version. According to Peacock, “four matches on one screen will be available for sports like football, track and field, and wrestling.” The streamer says it’s the first platform to offer multiview across multiple devices, including smart TVs, media players, tablets, and web browsers. Once the Games are over, the feature will expand to other live events on the service.

Peacock Live Action

With personalization in mind, Peacock also introduced a Live Actions feature to help viewers dictate how they want to watch all of the live events and Olympic coverage. The tool is available for certain types of programming, such as Gold Zone, which lets fans move between different live events or continue watching current coverage.

Viewers will see on-screen prompts that guide them through different options for watching the live stream. You will be able to catch up on the latest news and moments from the Paris Olympics and follow selected events.
