SCAMH organizes e-cigarette take-back events

Posted 9:15 am Saturday, July 27, 2024

South Central Alabama Mental Health will host a series of e-cigarette take-back events in August.

The drop-off points are intended to be an opportunity for community members and students to impartially return their vaping devices.

Once received, SCAMH properly disposes of the devices so that the materials contained within them cannot cause further harm to the environment. Vape juice is an aerosol, not a vapor, and is classified as hazardous waste.

Pickup dates are listed below:

• Wednesday, August 21, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Florala High School (22114 Begonia St., Florala)

• Friday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Florala Pharmacy (23355 5th Ave, Florala). This event is both a medication and vape pick-up. Attendees can also drop off any unused or expired prescription medications at the event.

• Friday, August 23, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Andalusia High School (701 3rd St, Andalusia).
