Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the state’s strategic efforts to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ during a meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog. Sarma noted that Assam is one of the fastest growing states in the country, investing in roads, health and education infrastructure at an unprecedented pace.

Sarma highlighted major projects including construction of Rs 35,000 crore in water supply assets and 13,000 new SSA classrooms. Work is also underway to reintegrate 81,000 out-of-school students and set up 3,000 MW of renewable energy capacity.

With Assam’s GSDP growing by 13% and 59% increase in capital expenditure since 2020, Sarma highlighted the state’s efforts to exceed the national averages in power supply and commitment to ‘Jan Bhagidari’ for Atmanirbhar Bharat. Led by Prime Minister Modi, Sarma aims to enhance the skills of the workforce, build a solid industrial base and maintain law and order.
