Sultan Al Neyadi leads UAE delegation to BRICS Youth Summit in Russian Federation

MOSCOW, 27 July 2024 (WAM) – Dr. Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, led the United Arab Emirates delegation to the “BRICS Youth Summit” held in the Russian Federation.

The delegation discussed important youth-related topics, including education, training, skills development, entrepreneurship, science, technology, innovation, volunteering, health and sports. It also highlighted the key role of the Summit in empowering youth and developing their capacity to achieve key milestones in various sectors, strengthening youth’s contribution to sustainable development and their role in delivering tangible benefits to society.

The participation of the UAE delegation was part of national initiatives aimed at strengthening youth engagement in achieving significant national goals and increasing their global impact. It also demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to international cooperation, knowledge sharing, adopting best practices and leveraging opportunities within BRICS.

Commenting on the participation, Al Neyadi highlighted the UAE’s long-standing commitment to youth empowerment, as demonstrated by the development of youth initiatives that meet current and future goals.

He emphasized, “Our visionary leadership has always recognized the youth as the foundation of the future and the power behind the nation’s strength. Engaging the youth at the international level is crucial to developing their contemporary skills. We strongly believe in the need to equip the youth of our country with the necessary skills and knowledge that will enable them to face challenges and make a significant contribution to building a sustainable and progressive society.”

Al Neyadi further stated, “Our participation in the ‘BRICS Youth Summit’ underlines the UAE’s commitment to international cooperation and knowledge sharing to achieve global development goals. The Summit’s inclusive dialogues served as a dynamic youth-focused platform, attracting active participation from young people. It provided BRICS member countries with new perspectives on strengthening their youth-supporting initiatives, presenting ways to empower youth to play leading roles in all sectors and providing them with opportunities to lead change and innovation in their communities.”

On the sidelines of the BRICS Youth Summit, Al Neyadi met with UAE students studying abroad at Russian universities and the youth delegation attending the Summit to shed light on their crucial role in shaping the UAE’s development path.

In addition, Emirates youth participated in the Emirates Youth Global Initiative at the BRICS Youth Summit in Ulyanovsk, Russia. The initiative aims to serve as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange to empower youth and develop skills in key sectors, showcasing international initiatives and best practices that contribute to supporting and nurturing young talent.

The participating youth reaffirmed that the UAE’s visionary leadership considers them a key part in nation building, social development and achieving national goals to shape a promising future for generations to come. They stressed the state’s commitment to providing the necessary support to the youth to realize their ambitions and develop their skills in various fields.

In addition, the youth stated that such international platforms enrich their knowledge, help build their capacities and enhance their potential. It also motivates them to achieve more and strengthen the UAE’s global position.

Participants agreed that engaging in international platforms with the support of their country is an invaluable opportunity to broaden their horizons, and their participation in the Brics Youth Summit in Russia underlines the country’s continued support and commitment to empowering youth through exposure to international experiences.
