Fuyao Glass says Ohio unit not targeted in Homeland Security raids

BEIJING: Chinese auto glass maker Fuyao Glass Industry Group said U.S. government agencies searched its Ohio subsidiary on July 26 as part of an ongoing investigation into an outside employment services company.

Fuyao Glass America Inc. was not the target of the investigation, Fuyao said in a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Local media earlier quoted a US Homeland Security Investigations spokesman as saying its special agents were serving search warrants at the Fuyao Glass branch and 27 other locations as part of an investigation into “allegations of financial crimes and labor exploitation.”

Production at its Ohio unit was partially halted during the search, which ended Friday afternoon. Cargo transportation and shipping were not affected, the company said, adding that current operations remain normal.
