Pretrial detention suspended for 17-year-old in police killing case

Faiaz recently became the 16th defendant out of 17 in the murder of a policeman near Matuail Hospital during the recent protest movement over reforms to the quota system for government jobs.

The pretrial detention of Hasanatul Islam Faiaz, a 17-year-old accused in a police killing case, has been suspended by CMM judge Tahmina Haque following an appeal.

Faiaz recently became the 16th defendant out of 17 in the murder of a policeman near Matuail Hospital during the recent protest movement over reforms to the quota system for government jobs.


Yesterday (July 27), Fayaz was produced before a lower court in the capital and remanded in custody for seven days as an accused in a case of murdering a policeman, hiding his body and stealing a motorcycle.

The case file states that Fayaz was 19 years old.
