DoST endorses app offering access to salary information before payday

The Department of Science and Technology (DoST) has approved Payday Today, an app developed by financial technology (fintech) startup Goodapps that allows employees to access their salaries before official payday.

With the app’s Earned Wage Access (EWA) technology, workers “can get their money at any time, even if payday is still a few days away,” said Payday Today project leader Caesar Michelena.

The app, available on Android and iOS, allows users to conveniently transfer their salaries to any bank or e-wallet. In addition to accessing salaries, the app supports various transactions, including bill payments, online shopping and subscription services, DoST said.

Michelena said the app addresses common issues such as delays in salary payments that can lead to workers becoming more dependent on loans.

In addition to the mobile app, Goodapps has developed a web portal for employers and funders. The portal makes it easy to manage credit transfers, adding users, credit adjustments and issuing vouchers.
