Body of missing youth found in canal

Kanpur: Body teenagerwho was reported missing five days ago, was found in outflow on Sunday in the Awas Vikas Colony area of Unnao district.
Police suspect the young man may have accidentally fallen into the drain because the cover was open for cleaning and not closed properly.
Shiva (17), a resident of Rajepur village in Dahi police station area, worked as a labourer at a slaughterhouse located near Dahi Chowki.
On July 23, he left home without informing anyone. When he did not return for a long time, his family filed a missing person complaint at the Dahi police station, but allegedly no action was taken.
On Sunday afternoon, local residents noticed a strong, unpleasant smell coming from the drain and upon further investigation, discovered the body of the youth. They immediately informed the Dahi police station. The mother of the deceased accused unknown persons of murder and dumping the body in the drain.
The police station superintendent, Anurag Singh, said, “The incident is currently under investigation and the initial suspicion was that it was an accidental fall into the drain. He revealed that the municipality had removed the concrete cover of the drain a few days ago to clean it but failed to install it properly.
