Apple’s New AI Features Will Be Delayed After iOS 18 Release: Report

Upcoming launch of a new Apple product artificial intelligence (AI) According to the report, the tools update is expected to arrive later than originally planned, following the launch of the new iOS 18 software for iPhones and iPads.

Bloomberg News reported that Apple on Sunday plans to introduce Apple Intelligence in a suite of software updates scheduled for release in October, which will come a few weeks after the initial releases of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 in September. Other Apple Intelligence features are scheduled for release in late 2024 and early 2025.

The company is expected to make Apple Intelligence made available to software developers as early as this week, allowing them to test their software on beta versions of iOS and iPadOS 18.1, the report says.

Bloomberg added that concerns about the stability of the Apple Intelligence feature contributed to the decision to separate its implementation from the launch of the new iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems.

Apple Intelligence uses generative AI to create text, images, and other content for users on command. It will be available on iPhone 15 ProiPhone 15 Pro Max and iPad and Mac devices with the company’s M1 chip and later versions.

It also prioritizes certain notifications, offers an updated Siri app and tools that can use AI to summarize content like webpages and voice memos, and brings iPhone Mirroring to macOS Sequoia, which lets you view and interact with your phone’s screen on your Mac.

Apple announced its plans for Apple Intelligence at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June and showed off the new capabilities it will bring to iPhones and iPads, increase sales of new devices which was sagging.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside standard business hours.

The Apple Intelligence delay report comes after Apple delayed the launch of three new AI features due to recently implemented technical regulations in the European Union, which require companies to ensure that competitors’ products and services can run on their devices.
