‘Investors are eager to come to India’: PM Modi says industry should not waste this golden opportunity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said global investors are watching India closely and the domestic industry needs to utilise this opportunity to contribute to achieving the Viksit Bharat by 2047 target. Addressing a post-Budget conference of the CII on ‘Journey Towards a Viksit Bharat’, he said his government has the political will to take all necessary decisions with a “people-first approach”.

India is growing at a rate of 8 per cent and is expected to become the third largest economy in the world from the current fifth position, PM Modi said. He expressed confidence that this achievement would happen during his ongoing third term. He also highlighted various measures announced in the budget, especially those aimed at promoting the MSME sector, which generates crores of jobs.

“Restoring economic growth was once a topic of discussion… Today, India is growing at 8 per cent… Now, we are all discussing the path to a developed India. This change is a change of confidence. That day is not far when India will become the third largest economic power,” PM Modi said, adding that frauds worth lakhs of crores before 2014 were known to everyone.

“Today, the whole world is looking at India and at you. Government policies, commitment and investment are becoming the foundation of global development. Investors all over the world are eager to come to India. World leaders are full of optimism towards India. This is a golden opportunity for Indian industry and we should not lose it,” Modi said.

The domestic industry should compete with the government to make India a developed nation and a global player in the eastern sectors by 2047, the spokesperson said. The government’s intention and commitment is clear, whether it is nation first, USD 5 trillion economy, Aatmanirbhar Bharat or Viksit Bharat, he added.
