Telecentro chooses Harmonic | Advanced Television

Harmonic announced that Telecentro, an Argentine telecommunications company, has selected Harmonic’s cOS broadband platform to modernize its broadband network. Harmonic’s virtualized cOS core software and edge devices will maximize Telecentro’s investment in DOCSIS 3.1 networks, enabling high-speed Internet services for residential and enterprise subscribers.

“Harmonic’s exceptional track record makes them the ideal partner,” said Juan Luna, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Telecentro. “With the cOS platform, we will be able to rapidly increase the capacity of our Internet services, improve service reliability and reduce operational costs, including energy, space and cooling. It will also provide better visibility into the health of the network.”

Telecentro will deploy Harmonic’s virtualized cOS software in a distributed access architecture (DAA). Harmonic’s Pebble Remote PHY will be deployed with Ripple’s modular DAA node, as well as a Raft adapter that instantly enables DAA capabilities on existing Telecentro nodes. Harmonic’s solution increases broadband speeds and maximizes the value of Telecentro’s existing DOCSIS 3.1 network. In addition, Harmonic’s cOS Central service will provide Telecentro with real-time, high-volume data to improve network visibility and support proactive troubleshooting.

“Telecentro is a major force for broadband innovation in LATAM and we are excited to support their growth as they continue to expand their business,” added Jeffrey Glahn, Senior Vice President, Global Broadband Sales, Harmonic. “Harmonic’s cOS platform and modular edge devices will power new capabilities for Telecentro, future-proof their investments and simplify the deployment of future broadband offerings for subscribers.”
