Quark Global Study Shows Organizations Recognize AI’s Potential to Strengthen Enterprise Content Strategies

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 30, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Quark Software, a global provider of content automation, intelligence and design software, today announced the results of a global study revealing perspectives on the impact of AI technologies on enterprise content strategies. The results follow previously announced research data on the challenges organizations face across the enterprise content ecosystem and the role a component content management system (CCMS) plays in addressing those challenges, conducted by analyst firm IDC and sponsored by Quark.

Nearly all respondents (89%) believe AI will benefit their content strategy and provide a competitive advantage, and more than half of respondents say their organization is currently conducting initial testing with AI. While almost half (48%) of organizations say understanding the impact of AI is a major business challenge, a quarter of respondents say their organization is currently making significant investments in AI to support their content strategy.

The findings are the result of a survey of hundreds of respondents involved in content management at enterprises with more than 5,000 employees in North America, the United Kingdom, the Nordics, Germany and France. The findings, published in IDC InfoBrief, sponsored by Quark, Unleashing the Power of Automated Enterprise Content in Today’s AI Era*, reflect the views of a broad range of stakeholders involved in content creation, operation and management, and industries including life sciences, manufacturing, financial services and government.

“Organizations understand that content must support business purpose and are making the necessary investments to support the most pressing content use cases,” said Holly Muscolino, vice president, Workplace Solutions, IDC. “Understanding the impact of AI is a question that most organizations across every industry are asking, and this study reveals promising expectations for the potential for AI to enhance their content strategies. It will be interesting to see how organizations leverage AI technologies to support content use cases and their ability to drive even greater impact. Some organizations are investing again now, and it’s only a matter of time before more organizations leverage AI to augment their existing content technologies as it helps them differentiate in the markets where they operate.”

Unlocking AI Power to Help Your Content Strategy Win in Today’s Digital Age

Incorporating AI into your content operations infrastructure not only increases productivity by automating time-consuming processes so your people can focus on more strategic roles, but also optimizes search, summarization, and translation capabilities to speed time to market. The survey results show that organizations see benefits from AI in content search and discovery (38%), followed by translation automation (35%) and summarization capabilities (34%).

Data security and governance continue to be a concern for organizations building AI models and will rely on trusted solutions, with 31% of respondents using private versions of AI models built on public data, followed by 24% using private versions of AI models built on their own data. The promise of AI outweighs the barriers to adoption concerns, with respondents saying they believe AI will significantly benefit their content strategy (47%) and provide a competitive advantage (42%).

“Enterprise content is complex, and organizations that have implemented a component content management system (CCMS) are seeing real benefits across the content ecosystem,” said Martin Owen, CEO at Quark. “The skepticism surrounding AI is far outweighed by the opportunity AI presents to teams involved in the content lifecycle process. It’s time for organizations to invest in AI technologies across their content operations because only then will they see the full benefits and ROI of their content strategy.”

Quark long ago recognized the opportunity that enterprise content presents to organizations and the role it plays in supporting business growth. The company has leveraged more than 40 years of understanding the complexity of content and incorporated it into the Quark Publishing Platform (QPP) NextGen, automating every complex content management process so organizations can achieve their most important goals—from digital transformation and customer satisfaction to regulatory compliance and revenue growth. Deep investments in AI give organizations the ability to automate key areas of the content lifecycle with precision—creation, collaboration, editing—with the ability to deliver personalized, compliance-controlled content and insight into how that content is being consumed.
