Saudi Arabia’s Trade Minister Ends Visit to South Korea

Saudi Arabian Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Competitiveness Center (NCC) Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi met with Korean Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Dr. Sangwoo Park in Seoul on Wednesday at the end of his visit to South Korea.

The meeting, attended by Saudi Arabian Ambassador to South Korea Sami bin Mohammed Al-Sadhan, discussed the Kingdom’s vision for 2030, economic and development reforms, opportunities for cooperation and partnership, and exchange of expertise, especially in priority sectors.

During his visit, Dr. Al-Qasabi visited the Samsung Innovation Museum in Suwon and met with Global President of Public Affairs Seung-Hee Park and senior management of the company to discuss cooperation opportunities and prospects arising from the Vision 2030 program and its economic and development reforms.

The Minister met with SK Telecom CEO Ryu Young-sang to discuss potential cooperation opportunities the company could offer to ongoing projects in the Kingdom.

The visit included meetings with several Korean officials, including the prime minister, minister of commerce, industry and energy, minister of small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, minister of commerce and head of environment, society and management standards at Naver, with the aim of strengthening trade relations and economic partnerships.

Al-Qasabi attended the Saudi-Korean Business Forum organized by the National Competitiveness Center, Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Korean Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The Saudi delegation at the event consisted of representatives from various government entities and business leaders from major domestic companies.

The aim of the forum was to strengthen trade relations in various priority economic sectors and to discuss challenges facing the private sector as well as proposals to strengthen business opportunities.
