Budget aims to make India third largest economy: CII

Mysore: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Mysuru Zone Chairman In Eswara Rao on Wednesday said the Union Budget presented last week aims to make India the world’s third-largest economy. He was addressing a gathering discussing the Union Budget for 2024-25, a collaboration CII Mysore and PWC. It was organized by SDM Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD) here.
He said it is an inclusive budget as it places emphasis on all areas of the economy including agriculture, rural development, skill development and infrastructure.
Dr. (Lt. Col.) SN Prasad, Director, SDMIMD, Mysuru, called the budget forward-looking and future-oriented. The budget should be viewed and assessed from multi-dimensional growth perspectives and emphasis on infrastructure driven by capital expenditure would address long-term needs.
CII Mysuru Finance and Taxation Panel Convener S Ranganathan spoke about the high expectations placed on the country’s budget, particularly highlighting initiatives for SMEs, which are the largest employment sector. He discussed the implications of short-term and long-term capital gains, noting that reinvestment banks are poised for a significant boost.
