New Exclusive Photos Reveal Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro

As the launch of Apple’s new iPhone 16 family of smartphones approaches, new iFab Four photos have been released, revealing the most important design changes for the next iOS phones.

Long-time Apple leaker Sonny Dickson is behind the latest news, posting exclusive photos that reveal four new iPhones with new designs, elements, and principles that are on display. Apple is expected to release the iPhones in early September, but we could see many of the new hardware features today.

Dickson Models are pre-made dummy models typically used for product launches and allow third-party accessory manufacturers to test the fit and function of their products on the final designs provided by Apple, without the internal circuitry and software.

First up are the new iPhone 16 Pro models. There are three colors on display that can best be described as standards that match last year’s White Titanium, Black Titanium, and Natural Titanium. There’s also a Blue Titanium color coming in 2023; you can’t see it in the images Dickson provided, but I expect the new colors will help boost sales as people look for a trendy choice.

The iPhone 16 colors include the usual white and black, but pink, blue, and green have also been added to the mix. These are deep colors, but subtle in tone.

Apple updated the camera lens arrangement for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, swapping the ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses to enable stereoscopic video recording when the phone is held in landscape mode; videos that can be viewed on Apple’s Vision Pro spatial video playback system to provide an immersive 3D experience. This arrangement carries over to the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, continuing the relationship between iOS and visionOS.

Now it’s the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus’s turn to see the rearranged lenses. You can see the vertical arrangement of the two lenses, which allows for the same spatial video recording for the Vision Pro headset.

You might also see a new capture button on the back of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro. It complements the programmable action button that debuted on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, and is expected to feature a two-stage shutter button that lets you lock the focus before taking a photo. Until we see this in action with final software, the exact methodology remains unclear.

Additionally, the iPhone 16 will have an Action button, which was absent in last year’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models.

The images don’t show any of the new software that will be included with iOS 18. Developer previews are now live, giving you a look at Apple’s plans for iOS 18, including the first steps of generative AI and how it will be implemented on iPhone.

Traditionally, Apple launches a new iPhone on the second Tuesday in September, which this year means the tentative release date will be Tuesday, September 10.
