Are we focusing too much on carbon dioxide?

On Monday, my post was about a new study that found that trees absorb methane. I understand that methane is second only (actually second only) to carbon dioxide, but is the climate movement making another tactical mistake by ignoring methane?

New research suggests the answer is yes.

It’s true that methane dissipates much faster than CO2. And it’s true that as a percentage of greenhouse gas emissions, methane is responsible for less than a quarter of total carbon dioxide emissions. But it’s also true that methane is many, many times more harmful and is responsible for a disproportionate share of global warming.

Watch the presentation to learn how much methane emissions have increased and what is driving the increase.
