Robot software maker Covariant receives acquisition request from Amazon

Covariant, a maker of artificial intelligence software used in industrial robots, recently showed interest in acquiring Amazon.com Inc., according to people familiar with the matter.

Representatives for Amazon and Covariant declined to comment. Founded in 2017, Covariant has raised $245 million from investors including Index Ventures and Radical Ventures and is set to raise $625 million in a 2023 funding round, according to PitchBook.
