Family fights to save lakeside cottage from government takeover in high court

KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. — Lawsuits have moved to the Michigan Court of Appeals in a dispute over ownership of a family’s lakeside vacation home.

The owners of a vacation home at 1739 East U Ave., on the shores of Gourdneck Lake, asked the Court of Appeals to overturn a lower court ruling that Kalamazoo County could legally force the owners to sell the property through a writ of eminent domain.
