OKLAHOMA CITY — Cherokee Film is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Musante as its new Chief Financial Officer and Development Officer for Film and Television.

Musante, who joins Cherokee Film from Vice President of Film Production and Acquisitions at American Zoetrope, brings a wealth of experience in film production, acquisitions and independent filmmaking. His extensive experience includes working with notable filmmakers such as Roman Coppola, Sofia Coppola and Fred Roos, as well as overseeing the development of films such as Mainstream and Gia Coppola’s Fairyland.

In his new role, Musante will focus on establishing a dedicated fund dedicated to creating top-tier film and television content with a Cherokee and Native American focus. This initiative will prioritize projects that are shot at Cherokee Film Studios, feature Native American talent and storytelling, and work with Cherokee or Native American filmmakers.

Cherokee Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. emphasized the important role Musante plays in promoting tribe representation in the film industry, a sector in which Native Americans have historically been underrepresented.

Jennifer Loren, Senior Director of Cherokee Film, expressed her excitement about Musante joining the team, stating, “Michael’s impressive track record and dedication to supporting diverse filmmakers aligns perfectly with our vision for the future of film and television at Cherokee Film. His leadership will undoubtedly help us create content that resonates with audiences and reflects the richness of Cherokee culture.”

In addition to his producing credits, Musante is also a co-founder and board member of The Decentralized Pictures Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting independent filmmakers from underserved communities.

His new role at Cherokee Film represents an important step forward in the organization’s mission to promote diverse voices and stories in American cinema.

Musante expressed his enthusiasm for the position, stating, “I am honored to join Cherokee Film and contribute to its mission of creating compelling and inclusive content. I look forward to working with the talented team and continuing to advocate for underrepresented voices in the industry.”
