China introduces veterans’ settlement regulations

BEIJING — China’s State Council and Central Military Commission have issued a set of regulations on the settlement of veterans aimed at better protecting their rights and interests.

The document, which will come into force on September 1, specifies the procedure for the settlement of veterans and clarifies that the place of settlement of veterans should be determined in accordance with their work needs and the location of their families, taking into account the contribution of veterans during the period of military service.

Emphasizing support for employment and business start-ups, the legislation calls for a joint effort between the military and civilian sectors to provide job training before and after retirement from the military. The document specifies that upon leaving active duty, veterans are entitled to access related benefits under the law.
