Zomato profit jumps 126-fold to Rs 253 million; app launches

“Our average gross order value per store has grown from around Rs 6 lakh per day per store when exactly a year ago we had 383 stores to around Rs 10 lakh today when we have 639 stores. For our top 50 stores today, the figure is Rs 18 lakh per day per store and growing,” said Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa.

“Our food business, which helps our customers discover restaurants when they want to go out and eat at restaurants. This food business is currently running at $500 Mn+ GOV and is already profitable,” said Deepinder Goyal, CEO, Zomato.

Zomato sees an opportunity to further expand its outgoing offering by expanding its restaurant business.

The CEO announced the launch of a new app, District. “If we do this well, we see the exit becoming the third major B2C business emerging from Zomato,” Goyal said.
