BBC Olympic host is married to music star and has a ‘healthy net worth’ | Other | Sport

BBC Paris Olympics presenter Isa Guha is married to rock musician Richard Thomas and boasts an impressive net worth. Guha rose to fame as a cricket legend in England before becoming a household name presenting a variety of sports on TV.

Guha made her England debut in 2002 aged just 17 and made history as the first woman of South Asian descent to play for her country before being selected for the 2005 and 2009 World Cups.

The former right-arm fast and medium bowler excelled in the latter event and played a key role in the defence of the 2008 Ashes title, having won the BBC Asian Sports Personality of the Year award in 2002.

After a remarkable playing career, she retired in 2012 having played 83 ODIs, 22 Twenty20 internationals and eight Tests. Now aged 39, she is known for her successful television career, appearing as a presenter on BBC One and BBC iPlayer’s Tonight at the Games during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Alongside Mark Chapman, Guha recaps each day of the Olympic action. Her achievements both on the pitch and on screen have served her well, with Times of India estimating her net worth at around £1.18 million.

Guha, whose parents moved to the UK from Calcutta, India, is also married to Thomas, singer and guitarist with the now-defunct band Brothers and Bones.

Guha’s potential as a presenter was first spotted by the BBC, where she appeared on the popular Test Match Special. She was then hired by ITV in 2012 to cover the world’s premier T20 franchise, the Indian Premier League.

Since then, Guha’s star has only grown, presenting coverage of Big Bash and Test cricket matches on Australian television, as well as commentating on events for Sky Sports and Fox.

In 2020, she became the lead presenter of the new BBC TV Test and ODI highlights show before her exceptional talent led to her being chosen by the broadcaster to cover tennis. For the past three years, Guha has headed up the Beeb’s Wimbledon coverage.

Guha married her long-term partner Thomas in September 2018. The Cornwall native was an integral part of acoustic alternative rock band Brothers and Bones.

They toured the UK and Europe, and also supported BRIT Award winners Ben Howard and Bastille. The band split in 2020 during the pandemic due to an “unsustainable” reliance on touring, although Richard continues to release solo music.
