He added that these lines mainly concern car trackers, MiFi devices, WiFi devices and point-of-sale terminals.

“The numbers are staggering. We are looking at potentially over 30 million SIM cards, including those in various digital devices, that have not been properly linked to the NIN. Many of these SIM cards are in car trackers, POS terminals, MiFis, WiFi and many other devices that use SIM cards to function,” Adebayo said during a recent interview with News Central, monitored by our correspondent on Thursday.

This discovery follows the recent chaos caused by the unblocking of lines not linked to their NIN numbers.

Last weekend, telecom operators began blocking phone lines not linked to the National Identification Number (NIN), days before the July 31, 2024 deadline set by the Nigerian Communications Commission.
