Vortex Energy Appoints Wojciech Orzech as CEO to Drive Renewable Energy Expansion in Poland

Orzech, who has over 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure, previously served as CEO of PKP Energetyka. Vortex Energy has over 450 MW of operational capacity, 110 MW under construction and development plans exceeding 3 GW in wind and solar, along with 2 GW of battery storage.

(PRESS RELEASE) ROTTERDAM, August 2, 2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Vortex Energy, a leading Polish renewable energy company owned by Vitol, has hired Wojciech Orzech as new General DirectorOrzech has over 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure, most recently serving as CEO of PKP Energetyka, the largest energy company in Poland and supplier of energy to the national rail network.

In his new role, Orzech will work with Vortex’s management team to strengthen its position as a leader in renewable energy in Poland and enhance its position as a low-carbon independent power producer (IPP). Vortex Energy has delivered over 450 MW of operational wind and solar capacity, has 110 MW of projects under construction and over 3 GW of wind and solar development, along with 2 GW of battery storage. The company aims to accelerate the development of renewable energy across Poland, leveraging its capital and expertise.

Orzech’s previous roles include CEO of Energa, a leading Polish energy company serving over 2.9 million customers. He began his career in the insurance sector at Hestia and holds a master’s degree in economics from the University of Gdańsk. He also completed the Stanford University Business School Executive Program in 2023.
