NTA to conduct UGC-NET from August 21 to September 4 | Latest News India

On June 19, the education ministry said the UGC-NET exam had been cancelled based on information from the National Cybercrime Threat Analysis, which suggested that the integrity of the exam was at risk.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) from August 21 to September 4 in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. The exam was held on June 18 but was cancelled a day later due to paper leak allegations.

The notification regarding the allotment of examination centres will be published on the NTA website 10 days prior to the examination. The examination was conducted on 18th June in written form, divided into two shifts.

On June 19, the Union Education Ministry had said that UGC-NET had been cancelled based on data from the National Cyber ​​Crime Threat Analytics suggesting compromise in the integrity of the exam. “To ensure the utmost transparency and sanctity in the examination process… a fresh exam should be conducted,” the ministry said. The case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation.

Last month, the Supreme Court refused to hear a petition challenging the government’s decision to shut down UGC-NET.

The examination is held twice a year for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professorship and admission to Ph.D. programmes. UGC-NET consists of two papers, both objective type, multiple choice questions, without a break in between.
