Lone Star’ elevates Jackson Pace to permanent roster for Season 5

We’ll be seeing more of Wyatt in the upcoming season 9-1-1: Lone Star. Jackson Pace, who has portrayed the character since Season 3, was promoted to a series regular in Season 5.

Pace has appeared in nine episodes of the series up until the final season 4 and will appear in all episodes of season 5, which premieres Monday, September 23 on Fox.

Pace’s promotion comes following the departure of Sierra McClain, who, Deadline has learned, quietly left the series after trouble with casting renegotiations, amid speculation that Season 5 would be the show’s final chapter.

Pace’s Wyatt first appeared in Season 3, when he arrived at the Austin Fire Station 126 to meet with Firefighter Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack) to tell him that he was his son (the result of a relationship they had years earlier), and although they were very different, they eventually bonded with their newfound father and his family (his wife Grace and daughter Charlie). After graduating from high school, Wyatt surprised Judd by announcing that he had dropped out of college to become a firefighter and that he and his girlfriend were expecting a child. However, tragedy struck when Wyatt was hit by a truck while riding his bike, and although Wyatt survived the accident, his severe injuries left him partially paralyzed and likely never able to walk again. This prompted Judd to quit his job at Fire Station 126 and bring Wyatt home to his family for care. As the new season begins, Wyatt must forge a new path for himself in the post-accident world, which leads him into a relationship with Number 126.

9-1-1: Lone Star follows the members of the Austin Fire Department 126, led by Captain Owen Strand (Lowe), who, along with his adult son TK (Ronen Rubinstein), has moved to Texas to help rebuild a fire station that has experienced tragedy of its own. His team of diverse and skilled first responders includes widowed Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Gina Torres); Judd Ryder (Jim Parrack), who was the sole survivor of the original 126 home in Austin after an emergency call ended in tragedy; Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam), an adrenaline junkie and tough firefighter who is also a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), a transgender firefighter who bravely decided to undergo a gender transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift of observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works). After settling into his new home, TK caught the eye of police officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva), with whom he began a romantic relationship, eventually marrying in the season four finale. TK hung up his firefighter helmet and became a full-time paramedic under Tommy’s watchful eye. He also works closely with fellow paramedic Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker).
