Hotel Reservations Being Accepted for 2024 Wyoming Blockchain Stampede at UW

Those planning to attend the 2024 Wyoming Blockchain Stampede Sept. 16-20 at the University of Wyoming may want to make hotel reservations now.

“Growing Wyoming” is the theme of the seventh annual stampede presented by the UW Center for Blockchain and Digital Innovation (CBDI). The stampede features top experts in innovative technologies; economic development; startups; fintech; quantum computing; bitcoin mining; digital literacy; and digital asset regulation and law.

“This year’s Wyoming Blockchain Stampede offers a substantial week of events featuring outstanding speakers, which is attracting a lot of interest,” says Steve Lupien, CBDI director.

The Laramie Hampton Inn is offering a block of rooms for stampede attendees for the nights of Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 17-18, with a reservation deadline of Friday, Aug. 16. The week includes a meeting of the Wyoming Legislature’s Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology; the UW College of Business Career Fair; the second Wyoming Computing Symposium titled “Data Analytics and Computing Advances for Drone Applications”; a meeting of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission; Cardano Day; and the Stampede eSports Meetup and Competition.

As part of the CBDI Bitcoin Mining Initiative, representatives of the bitcoin mining industry and energy sector will meet in the “Bitcoin Mining and Energy Summit” during the stampede.

Among featured speakers will be Charles Hoskinson, CEO and founder of Input Output Global, one of the world’s preeminent blockchain infrastructure research and engineering companies; UW alum Caitlin Long, CEO and founder of Custodia Bank in Cheyenne, which specializes in digital asset payment and custody solutions for US businesses; Gov. Mark Gordon; Secretary of State Chuck Gray; and Matt Fields, CEO of Cheyenne-based VMAccel, a global artificial intelligence infrastructure and platform company.

Also featured will be Anthony Apollo, executive director of the Wyoming Stable Token Commission; UW President Ed Seidel; Gabrielle Allen, UW School of Computing director; Bradley Rettler, a UW associate professor of philosophy and the new UW Bitcoin Research Institute director; Wyoming State Sen. Chris Rothfuss, co-chair of the Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology; and Julie Hill, UW College of Law dean.
