Resorters Golf: Aldrich to face Huser in Women’s Execs final for eighth title – Alexandria Echo Press

A year after losing on extra holes in the Women’s Executive final, Betsy Aldrich is ready to reclaim her crown.

Aldrich is a seven-time Resorters champion who last won in 2022. She defeated 2023 champion Krista Bull 2-1 in this year’s semifinals, but to win her eighth Resorters title she will need to beat Geri Huser in the final.

Huser is a Resorters debutant who had previously claimed a 19-hole victory over Amanda O’Donnell. She trailed three times in the first seven holes but still managed to come back and earn a spot in the championship.

Huser beats O’Donnell, 19 holes

For most of the first half of the semifinal match between fifth-seeded Geri Huser and eighth-seeded Amanda O’Donnell, Huser landed several excellent counterattacks.

Starting with hole 1, O’Donnell would win a hole, and then Huser would win the hole right after that. This happened four times in the pair’s first 11 holes – with the one exception of holes 8 and 9, where Huser won two in a row to take a one-hole lead. Huser also made two birdies during that period.

Huser took a two-hole lead with a par on the 14th, but O’Donnell tied the match with a par on the 16th and a birdie on the 18th. Huser won the tie-breaking 19th hole to advance to the final.

Aldrich defeated Bull 2-1

The champion, No. 2 seed Krista Bull, opened her semifinal match against No. 3 seed Betsy Aldrich with a birdie on hole 1 to take an early lead, but Aldrich responded with two straight wins on holes 3 and 4 to take the lead.

Bull tied the match with a par on the next hole, but Aldrich took the lead again, winning twice over the next three holes. Bull then birdied the 11th to cut the lead to one.

They played the same pair for the next five holes until Aldrich finished the match with a birdie on the 17th hole.
