Will Smith Performs Summertime in Bel-Air Season 3 Peacock BBQ

Will Smith rocked the crowd at Peacock’s Summer BBQ as he celebrated Bel AirThe series’ third season premiere features a summery feel and a surprising performance.

During the event held on Thursday at the Universal Studios Backlot in Los Angeles, Bel Air star Coco Jones took the stage to perform her new song, “Here We Go,” before inviting Smith, who serves as an executive producer on the dramatic reimagining of his hit ’90s sitcom. The New Prince of Bel-Airon stage to perform a duet of her 1991 hit “Summertime.”

“Come on, come on, sing!” Smith shouted into the microphone during Jones’ vocals, and fans happily obliged, pulling out their phones to record the special moment. After the performance, the cast took to the stage to tease Season 3 and share memories of their time together on set.

Smith also joined Bel Air stars Jabari Banks, Akira Akbar, and Olly Sholotan to create their own version of the TikTok trend “Just Give Me My Money.” In addition to Jones, Banks, Akbar, and Sholotan, cast members Adrian Holmes, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones were in attendance. They were joined by co-executive producer Morgan Cooper, as well as showrunner, co-executive producer, and writer Carla Banks Waddles.

In addition to Smith’s surprise, attendees enjoyed food from Trejos Tacos, Earle’s on Crenshaw and Eagle Rock BBQ. There was also a Blackaccess flea market (named after a term coined on the show by Will and Carlton) featuring vendors and “Blackaccess” merchandise. Other activities included yard games, photo ops and a DJ set by Meel.

Smith made a comeback following criticism after he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars. Bad Boys: Ride or Diewhich premiered in June, became a box office hit, crossing $100 million at the domestic box office in its first 10 days; it has grossed a total of $395.7 million worldwide to date. In June, Smith also made his first awards show appearance since the Oscars incident, performing his new song “You Can Make It” at the BET Awards.

Smith appears to be officially returning to music. In July, he signed with independent label SLANG, led by music executive Rene McLean, a founding partner and advisor at Influence Media Partners.
