Apple to launch two foldable devices in 2026, according to latest report

We’ve heard that Apple is working on a pair of foldable devices, including a clamshell iPhone codenamed V68 that, when opened, turns into an iPhone with the design and dimensions of a traditional iPhone. The other foldable is an iPad/Mac hybrid with an M5 drive and a 20.3-inch internal display when fully opened. When we last reported on Apple’s foldable devices , we reported that a foldable iPhone (dubbed the iPhone Flip) would be released in 2026, with a foldable iPad/Mac expected a year later.
However, a new report from Haitong Securities Apple analyst Jeff Pu says that both foldable devices will arrive in 2026. We can narrow that down even further, as Pu said in his note to clients that Apple will release a foldable iPad/Mac hybrid first in the second quarter of 2026. The foldable iPhone will be released later in the year. Apple is reportedly late to the foldable party due to concerns about the durability of the displays used in such devices.
Earlier this year, Apple allegedly created two different iPhone prototypes. One was a book-style foldable iPhone similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series, and the other was a foldable iPhone similar to the Galaxy Z Flip series. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip models were the most popular foldable phones year after year, which may explain why Apple decided to

choose the foldable iPhone form factor.

The foldable iPhone would not only have to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 in 2026, but also the Motorola Razr (2026) and Razr+ (2026). Other rivals from China could include refreshed versions of the Vivo X Flip and Xiaomi Mix Flip.
