My net worth has increased by 38 million shillings since last check

The Appointments Commission has learnt that the net worth of Trade Cabinet Secretary candidate Salim Mvurya has increased by 38 million shillings in the past two years.

During his cross-examination on Saturday, Mvurya claimed that his net worth is currently worth 158 million shillings.

“When was the last time we checked you, how much were you worth?” asked the commission’s chairman and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Though he did not provide further details, Mvurya replied that the amount was 120 million shillings, attributing this amount to the value of a property he claimed to have just completed.

Mvurya added that this amount does not include the value stated in his asset declaration.

Wetangula also revealed that the commission received 21 notes about him, most of which were satisfactory.

Mvurya was the third nominee to appear before the committee.

He is among five people registered on the third day of verification.

Previously he served as CS for Mining and the Blue Economy.
