Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Canada eliminated in women’s soccer

A new Olympic champion in women’s football will be crowned at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Canada was eliminated from the tournament after losing 4–2 on penalties to Germany in the quarter-finals at the Stade de Marseille, which ended in a goalless draw.

Canada won gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

On Tuesday in Lyon, Germany will face the United States.

The Americans defeated Japan 1-0 early in the quarterfinals.

It was the first defeat for the Canadians, who qualified for the knockout stage despite a six-point penalty imposed by FIFA over the Canada Soccer eavesdropping drone scandal.
