Mark Ivey, Louisville LBs talk about start of fall camp

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Preparations are in full swing for the second year of the Jeff Brohm era in the Louisville football program.

The Cardinals began their second fall camp under Brohm earlier this week, with three practices under their belt. The start of the 2024 season is fast approaching, with a matchup with Austin Peay just 28 days away.

“It’s been very, very good,” linebackers coach Mark Ivey said of the start of fall camp. “We’ve obviously been working as much as we can within the parameters that are allowed in the summer, but this is completely different. Now we can line up against each other. Now you can line up in front of each other.”

The linebacker room has a solid mix of returning veterans and experienced newcomers. Last season’s top tackler TJ Quinn, as well as Benjamin Perry, Stanquan Clark, TJ Capers, are all back, while portal acquisitions Jurriente Davis and Dan Foster Jr. are expected to play significant roles at linebacker.

“We’re just buying in,” linebacker Jurriente Davis said. “We’re just keeping the most important thing, the most important thing. Communication, because at our position you have to communicate with the D-line and the DB. That’s going well.”

Following the Cardinals’ third training camp session on Saturday, Ivey, Davis and Stanquan Clark found time to meet with the media. Below is a clip of their press conference:
