Police warn against skimming devices placed on ATMs

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — ATM users, beware! Local police are warning that a skimming device was found on an ATM at a local grocery store.

York County Regional Police said the device was found on an ATM in their jurisdiction and that similar incidents have been reported in the area.

“Be careful when using an ATM and look at the machine to see if there’s anything unusual or out of place,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “If you find anything unusual, it could be a sign that someone has tampered with it.”

Police also warned that the suspect may be nearby, watching ATM users, and may try to help if he sees a user having difficulty. They said it was a scam and that no information should be given to them.
