Governor Kemp Declares State of Emergency Ahead of Storm

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – On Saturday, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp A state of emergency was declared due to severe weather conditions expected throughout the state.

“As the state prepares for a major storm system early next week, we urge all Georgians to take precautions to keep their families and property safe. I have declared a state of emergency through Thursday, August 8,” said Governor Kemp.

Tracking Tropical Depression 4 as it heads towards the Gulf of Mexico

Tropical Storm Debby is expected to make landfall Sunday night or Monday morning between the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend. That increases the risk of severe impacts in the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry on Monday and into Tuesday of next week.

Governor Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency on Saturday.
