Government approves 4 joint ventures in energy sector

Jaipur: The cabinet on Saturday approved the appointment of four joint ventures In Energy sector In investment amounting to Rs 1.34 lakh crore. Moreover, metro projects will be developed and operated through a joint venture.

Deputy CM Premchand Bairwa said that as per the Metro Rail Policy 2017, the proposal to set up a joint venture (JV) between the Centre and the state government has been approved. This JV will focus on development, operation and implementation of current and future metro projects in Rajasthan.
Industries Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore said the aim is to make the state self-reliant in power generation by 2027. He blamed the previous Congress government for causing losses worth Rs 1.30 lakh crore to the state in the power sector.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel said the Cabinet has approved proposals to set up joint ventures with various central PSUs. State government companies will hold 26% stake while central PSUs will hold 74% stake in these joint ventures.
Rathore said two separate JVs will be formed between Coal India Limited and RVUNL, one for a thermal project and the other for a renewable energy project. The first project will involve setting up an 800 MW unit at Kalisindh Thermal Project in Jhalawar or another greenfield coal project. The second JV will set up solar, pumped storage and wind power projects of 2,000-2,500 MW, resulting in an investment of Rs 17,200-24,400 crore in the state.
Rathore said a joint venture will be formed between NTPC Green Energy and RVUNL to set up renewable energy projects. This joint venture will set up 25,000 MW of solar, wind and hybrid power projects, attracting an investment of Rs 1 lakh crore in the state. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited and Rajasthan Power Transmission Corporation will form a joint venture to set up power transmission projects.
The government has permitted the recruitment of 2,827 people to Sanskrit teaching posts and the change of names of physical education teachers.
