Nas Joins Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis on ‘Warriors’ Inspired Album

Lin-Manuel Miranda and American playwright and actress Eisa Davis create a concept album inspired by the 1979 film Warriors — and the duo just announced that Brooklyn-born rapper Nas has joined the project as an executive producer.

The 26-track album features an “all-star cast,” though the band, which also includes producer Mike Elizondo, has not yet announced who exactly will appear on the songs.

WarriorsDirected by Walter Hill, the film was an adaptation of Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name. The story follows a fictional New York City gang that must travel 30 miles from the Bronx’s northern tip to Coney Island after being framed for the murder of a prominent gang leader.

In a joint statement about their Galvanized album, Miranda and Davis said, “We’ve spent the last three years musicalizing the Warriors’ journey home, from the South Bronx to Coney Island. Along the way, we’ve had the opportunity to work with many of our favorite artists and will be announcing their features on the album in the coming weeks. We can’t wait to share these songs with you.”
