Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha to take over Flipkart Fashion after Arief Mohammad’s departure, ET Retail

Flipkart’s fashion head Arief Mohamad is set to leave the company and his role will be taken over by Myntra CEO Nandita Sinha, sources in the matter told ET.

Sinha, who led Myntra to profitability at earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) earlier this year, will take on an expanded role overseeing the fashion division of sister company Myntra. Both Flipkart and Myntra are owned by US-based Walmart. Both entities, though headed by Sinha, will remain separate, the sources added.

A Flipkart group spokesperson confirmed this information.

“Nandita has played a pivotal role in driving the growth of multiple businesses in the Flipkart ecosystem. Under her leadership, Myntra has strengthened its position in the fashion industry while paving the way for its next phase of growth. Flipkart Fashion and Myntra will continue to operate independently under Nandita, who will drive the broader strategic direction for Fashion,” the spokesperson added in a statement.

The event was first reported by the news portal Moneycontrol.

Sinha is a Flipkart veteran, having spent over eight years at the company before taking over as the head of its fashion-focused sister company in January 2022. Mohamad has been with Flipkart for nine years and has led verticals such as mobile business, customer growth and loyalty.

Mohamad’s departure comes after recent leadership changes at Flipkart, led by group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy.

On May 24, ET reported that Flipkart had appointed Prathyusha Agarwal as vice president (VP) and head of Shopsy, months after the departure of senior vice president Adarsh Menon, who previously headed the vertical.

On May 20, ET reported that the company had hired Anuj Rathi as CEO of its travel bookings division Cleartrip, after previous CEO Ayyappan R. and former CFO Aditya Agarwal left.

Other senior vice presidents, including Amitesh Jha, who was in charge of market and categories, Dheeraj A, head of fintech and payments, and Bharath Ram, who was in charge of employee development and retention, have also left the company in the last few months.

In January, ET reported that Flipkart had initiated performance-based job cuts across all verticals, including VP of engineering and product positions, impacting 5-7% of the company’s workforce.
