Hall County Launches TSPLOST Information Site

Hall County officials have launched an informational website outlining transportation projects that could be funded by a proposed local sales tax scheduled for a November vote.

TSPLOST is a one-cent sales tax that funds transportation projects and must be approved by voters before implementation. Hall County commissioners voted in July to place TSPLOST on this year’s ballot after getting approval from all municipalities in the county.

The TSPLOST program would last for a maximum of six years and is estimated to generate approximately $390 million.

A new informational website launched by Hall County Government includes an interactive map showing road projects that could be funded with TSPLOST dollars. Some of those projects are listed below:

  • $20 million in improvements to Ga. 365 between Interstate 985 and Habersham County in preparation for inland port project.
  • $40 million for Phase II of the Spout Springs Road widening project, which will expand the roadway from two lanes to four lanes from Union Circle to the Gwinnett County line.
  • $35 million in safety improvements on Browns Bridge Road between McEver Road and the Forsyth County line.
  • $58 million to widen McEver Road from Friendship Road/Lanier Islands Parkway to GC Crow Road/Gainesville Street
  • $40 million to widen 1.1-mile stretch of Ridge Road in Gainesville

Hall County Precinct 3 Commissioner Gregg Poole said the map could help residents see the potential impact of TSPLOST.

“Our local government’s role is to serve our citizens, and we want to make sure we provide them with the information and facts they need to make an informed decision when voting yes or no on the Transportation SPLOST in November,” Poole said. “The interactive map is a great tool to help citizens better understand exactly what these projects are and how they will impact their daily commutes.”
