New Leak May Reveal iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max Battery Capacity

We should see the iPhone 16 launch in about a month, and leaks about Apple’s 2024 flagship phone are starting to multiply – including new information about the battery capacities of the Pro and Pro Max models.

According to insider Instant Digital (via MacRumors), the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a 3,577mAh battery, while the battery in the larger iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 4,676mAh capacity.

To put these numbers into context, the iPhone 15 Pro has a 3,274mAh battery capacity, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max has a 4,422mAh capacity. Both models appear to have larger batteries this year, but the jump is bigger in the Pro model.

In a previous leak, we heard the same 4,676mAh capacity for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, although an earlier rumor put the iPhone 16 Pro’s capacity at 3,355mAh – so the latest source suggests the size increase will be larger.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that the battery capacity has changed as the phones have evolved and Apple has refined their design, which could explain why some of the rumors we’ve seen so far have given different numbers.

It’s also hard to say how these increased battery capacities will affect battery life. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to be getting larger screens this year, up to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively, which could have an impact on the calculations.

As you’ll see in our iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max review , the current models can last about a day (or a bit longer) with normal use. It looks like the new editions will still require overnight charging most of the time.

Apple has yet to announce a September launch event, but that’s the month it typically unveils its new iPhones. We should also get information about the Apple Watch 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 at the same event.
