Ferrari Chief Fred Vasseur discussed how Lewis Hamilton “personal baggage” will impact the team when he joins it next season.

The seven-time world champion announced he was leaving Mercedes for the Scuderia earlier this year after a difficult few years in F1.

Mercedes are struggling compared to their rivals following the 2022 rule changes, with Hamilton having failed to win 56 races.

However, after making improvements in Canada, the Brackley-based outfit rediscovered the pace and Hamilton ended his winless streak at Silverstone.

After George Russell disqualified from the Belgian Grand Prix Hamilton inherited the race victory, becoming the only other driver alongside Max Verstappen to gain the most race wins this season.

Some suggest that Hamilton could regrets his move to Ferraribecause his current team continues to outperform his future team.

Ferrari, however, remains energized by Hamilton’s impending arrival, with team principal Fred Vasseur outlining the key attributes the champion will bring to the team.

“One thing that is important for Lewis, but also for the engineers, is that it is important to have a cultural mix, with people of different backgrounds, experiences and education,” Vasseur told FormulaPassion.

“Hamilton brings his own personal baggage. As well as being a seven-time world champion, he has a wealth of experience from top teams such as McLaren and Mercedes.

“I also know his qualities and I am sure he will contribute to the development of the team. It is not only about being fast on the track, but also about motivating and pushing the team.”
