Kajol turns 50 today, August 5. The actress has been a part of the entertainment industry for over three decades. She owns her own cosmetics brand and is a partner in Ajay Devgn’s production house. As per a report by Financial Express, Kajol’s net worth is 250 crores. She reportedly earns around 25 crores per year.

Kajol is the daughter of late producer-director Somu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja. Kajol made her debut with the film Bekhudi. She was 17 years old at the time of her debut. Talking to Humans of Bombay, Kajol recalled, “She is dark, fat and wears glasses all the time. These were some of the judgements that were made when I started in the industry. I didn’t care. I knew I was smart, cool and better than anyone who had any negative opinions about me. So I was still myself and never showed it. Sooner or later, when they couldn’t bring me down anymore, the world just accepted me the way I was – Kajol.”

The actress’ second film was Baazigar. It was directed by Abbas-Mastan and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Shilpa Shetty. After the success of the film, the actress became an overnight star. Producers of big banners started approaching the actress for films.
