The U.S. Army has purchased field-deployed positioning, navigation and timing systems from RTX (NYSE: RTX) for $96.8 million.

Collins Aerospace will deliver MAPS devices to the Army Watercraft and Marine Corps System Command as part of its recently awarded MAPS Second-Generation 4 contract, the Army announced Friday.

MAPS was developed to provide soldiers with data even during missions in degraded or GPS-free environments. It is mounted on ground vehicles, boats, ammunition systems and other platforms.

The company will deliver 1,212 MAPS devices to Army units, 29 to AWS and 400 to MARCORSYSCOM. The deliveries will bring the total number of MAPS devices purchased to 3,419 systems.

“The award of this contract solidifies the Army and (U.S. Marine Corps) commitment to state-of-the-art PNT solutions that meet the military code for mounted platforms,” said Lt. Col. Damian Dixon, Mounted PNT product manager.
