My Hero Academia Gets First-Ever Character Popularity Poll, New York Times Ad – Interest

Kohei Horikoshi‘S My Hero Academy ended its 10-year cycle on Monday, and to celebrate the event, Shueisha places an ad in the morning edition New York Times Horikoshi’s commentary appeared in English on Monday:

Not only this, Shueisha will hold a global manga character popularity poll for the first time.

The “World Best Hero” popularity poll is now open and voting will end on September 30th, Japan time. Fans can vote once per day.

The results of the first round of voting, known as the “Main Stage”, will be announced on December 2 at 7:00 PM JST (5:00 AM EST) via live broadcast on the website Shonen Jump Youtube channel. Then, there will be a special final voting round, the “Plus Ultra Stage”, which will last for 24 hours to determine the No. 1 character from the top 3 in the “Main Stage”. Each person can vote once per hour, with a maximum of 12 votes during this period.

The winning character will have a statue created in his or her honor. Horikoshi himself will draw an illustration that will serve as a model for the statue.

Shueisha also announced a fan art contest. Fans can submit their fan art to X (formerly Twitter) with the hashtags “#WBH_FANART” or “#頑張れって感じのファンアート” (DoYourBestFanArt). 10 works will then be selected and the winners will receive digital data with a personalized signature from Horikoshi. The deadline for submissions is September 1, and the winners will be announced on September 15.

The manga also commemorates its ending with a final fanbook in January, the first artbook in April, and a new, major art exhibition in summer 2025. The 42nd and final volume will be released in December.

The manga will also get a board game titled Boku no Hero Academia YOUR BEST MEMORY to celebrate the ending of the manga. Shueisha Games will release the board game in winter 2024.

Although My Hero Academy the manga has ended, the seventh season of the anime is still ongoing, the fourth anime film titled My Hero Academia: You’re Nextwhich premiered on Friday and debuted at No. 1, and a live-action Hollywood film is also in the works Netflix.

Considering all this, as well as all the news announced today, it seems that My Hero Academy fans will have something to wait for for a long time.
