Tesla recalls vehicles due to software issues

Tesla is recalling 1,849,638 vehicles because the hood latch assembly may not detect an unlatched hood when opened. An unlatched hood can open completely, restricting the driver’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

The following vehicles are included in the recall:

  • Model 3 from 2021-2024
  • S-Model 2021-2023
  • Model X 2021-2023
  • Model Y 2020-2024

Tesla has made the free software update available over-the-air. Notification letters to owners are expected to be sent out on September 22. Owners can contact Tesla Customer Service at 1-877-798-3752. The Tesla number for this recall is SB-24-00-012.

Hyundai recalls vehicles due to airbag problems

Hyundai is recalling 49,719 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe HEV vehicles. The main floor wiring harness may rub against the passenger-side second-row bench assembly and become damaged, which could cause the airbags to deploy inadvertently or prevent them from deploying in the event of a crash.

Dealers will inspect, repair or replace the wiring harness, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on September 23. Owners can contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s number for this recall is 265.

Hyundai is also recalling certain 2010-2013 Genesis Coupe vehicles. The return spring in the ignition lock switch may break, which could result in unintended vehicle movement when the vehicle is started in gear without the parking brake applied.

Dealers will replace the ignition lock switch at no charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent out on September 23. Owners can contact Hyundai Customer Service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai’s recall number is 266.
