The Los Angeles Lakers have been on a rollercoaster of emotions since the legendary team lost to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets for the second time in a row a few months ago.

There has been constant speculation about the team’s moves during the NBA offseason, and the team itself has made some questionable decisions, such as hiring rookie head coach JJ Redick and drafting LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, from the University of Southern California.

On top of all the questionable decisions the franchise has made this summer, there have been rumors that the team is considering a trade to acquire another impact player to play alongside stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Unfortunately, the Lakers were unable to accomplish anything despite being linked to every player rumored to be available on the transfer market.

Even if the team manages to acquire someone like Jerami Grant from the Portland Trail Blazers, it wouldn’t significantly impact its success, according to an unnamed NBA executive, per Sean Deveney of Heavy via NBA Central.

“If they get Grant, I’m not sure they’re that much better as a team… he’s not a very good defender. I’m not sure he’s that much better than Rui,” said an unnamed NBA executive.

While Grant is a talented scorer and an impact player, the anonymous executive may be right in his assessment, as he may not have enough of an impact to make this team a real contender for the Western Conference title.

However, the Lakers have performed miracles in the past and become championship contenders, so it is difficult to say what the future holds for the Lakers.
