Arlington-Based Aperture Acquires NOVUM Consulting Group » Dallas Innovates

Arlington-based Aperture LLC has acquired NOVUM Consulting Group, a firm that provides financial consulting services, including business loss analysis, valuations, licensing negotiation advice, and expert witness services to law firms and corporate clients nationwide.

NOVUM is based in The Woodlands, north of Houston. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Aperture, a portfolio company of Trinity Hunt Partners, announced that NOVUM experts have participated in more than two hundred high-profile intellectual property and complex commercial disputes, and have advised clients on patent acquisitions/dispositions, licensing, valuation and/or financing arrangements.

Stephen Dell, founder and president of NOVUM, has been recognized by intellectual property valuation consulting firm IAM as one of the world’s leading experts in commercial and patent damages across the IAM Patent 1000 for the past four years.

“Throughout his distinguished career, Stephen Dell has proven to be a preeminent expert in the economics and damages of intellectual property litigation. He has leveraged that expertise to build NOVUM into the market-leading firm it is today,” Aperture CEO and President Robert E. Joyce Jr. said in a statement. “Through his leadership, Stephen has built an incredibly deep and impressive team of high-performing professionals.”

Joyce added that NOVUM is “the go-to solution for customers looking for the ‘absolute best solution.’”

He said NOVUM’s “collective thought leadership, vision, and service delivery capabilities are a perfect fit for the Aperture team.”

Joyce welcomed the NOVUM team on board and said he and his team “look forward to working with them as we continue to expand our service offering to our clients.”

“A constantly evolving talent platform”

Dell has found that NOVUM pairs well with Aperture.

“I am thrilled to share the news of NOVUM’s partnership with Aperture,” said Dell. “From the beginning of our discussions with Aperture, the leadership team made it clear that Aperture’s corporate culture and intense focus on customer service are directly aligned with NOVUM’s mission and vision.”

He added that the collaboration with Aperture will be crucial for the NOVUM team to continue to provide customers with the “best-in-class service they are accustomed to.”
