Fox on Monday released the first trailer for the fifth season, which will premiere on the network on September 23 and on Hulu the following day.

As Deadline previously reported, there was wild speculation that the 12-episode fifth season would be the last, but there’s no indication of that in the trailer. That speculation picked up steam when we learned that series regular Sierra McClain quietly left the series following a dramatic casting renegotiation.

In the upcoming fifth season, Captains Strand (Lowe) and Vega (Gina Torres) and the 126 team spring into action when a devastating train derailment threatens the lives of several people, including their own. When Judd (Jim Parrack) resigns from 126 to care for his recently disabled son Wyatt (Jackson Pace), Owen must find a new lieutenant to replace Judd and faces a difficult decision when both Marjan (Natacha Karam) and Paul are up for promotion. Tommy is ready to take the next step in her relationship, but she finds that the path to happiness is full of obstacles. At 30,t birthday, TK receives a surprise visit from someone from his past that could change his and Carlos’ lives forever. Now officially husband and husband, TK and Carlos’ marriage is put to the test when Carlos becomes obsessed with solving his father’s murder.

9-1-1: Lone Star follows the members of the Austin 126 Fire Department, led by Captain Owen Strand (Lowe), who, along with his adult son TK (Ronen Rubinstein), has moved to Texas to help rebuild a firehouse that has experienced tragedy of its own. His team of diverse and skilled first responders includes widowed Paramedic Captain Tommy Vega (Torres); Judd Ryder (Parrack), who was the sole survivor of the original 126 home in Austin after an emergency call ended in tragedy; Marjan Marwani (Karam), an adrenaline junkie and tough-as-nails firefighter who is also a devout Muslim; Paul Strickland (Brian Michael Smith), a transgender firefighter who bravely decides to undergo a gender transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift of observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works). After settling into his new home, TK caught the eye of police officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva), with whom he began a romantic relationship, eventually marrying in the season four finale. TK hung up his firefighter helmet and became a full-time paramedic under Tommy’s watchful eye. He also works closely with fellow paramedic Nancy Gillian (Brianna Baker).
